History
The 3M-54 Caliber, also known by NATO as the SS-N-27 Sizzler, is a Russian cruise missile system designed for use against surface and land-based targets. Developed by the Novator Design Bureau, the Caliber missile family entered service in the 1990s and has since become a central element of Russia’s naval strike capability. The system includes multiple variants, with ranges extending from 220 to over 2,000 kilometres depending on configuration. Capable of being launched from ships, submarines, and coastal batteries, the Caliber gained international attention during its operational use in the Syrian conflict, where it demonstrated long-range precision strike capability.
