Revell Plastic Model Kit

Blue Angels – 80 Years

This 1/72 scale anniversary set from Revell celebrates 80 years of the famous Blue Angels aerobatic team. The set combines two aircraft from different eras of the team’s history, the Grumman F6F Hellcat and the modern Boeing F/A-18 Hornet.

Part of the 1/72 aircraft model kits range, the set includes paints, glue, and a brush, allowing builders to begin construction straight from the box.

  • 1/72 scale twin aircraft model set
  • Includes Grumman F6F Hellcat and F/A-18 Hornet
  • 91 parts across both models
  • Blue Angels anniversary decal set included
  • Includes paints, brush, and glue
  • Commemorates 80 years of the Blue Angels

The set highlights the contrast between early post-war propeller aircraft and modern jet-powered aerobatic display aircraft. Both models can be finished in the iconic Blue Angels blue and yellow colour scheme.

The included accessories and moderate part count make the set suitable for a wide range of modelling experience levels while still offering a detailed and visually striking display result.

History

The Blue Angels were formed in 1946 by the United States Navy to promote naval aviation and maintain public interest in military flying following the Second World War. Their first display aircraft was the Grumman F6F Hellcat, a carrier-based fighter that had seen extensive wartime service.

Over the decades, the team transitioned through multiple aircraft types as aviation technology evolved. The Blue Angels became internationally recognised for their close-formation flying, precision aerobatics, and high-speed demonstrations.

Today, the team flies the Boeing F/A-18 Hornet, a modern multirole combat aircraft capable of supersonic performance and extreme manoeuvrability. The aircraft’s agility and power make it ideally suited to precision aerobatic displays.

This anniversary set celebrates the long history of the Blue Angels by combining their earliest aircraft with one of their most recognisable modern display jets, highlighting eighty years of naval aviation tradition and aerobatic excellence.
