History:

The Fieseler Fi103, better known as the V-1 flying bomb, was the first of Germany’s so-called “Vengeance Weapons” deployed during the Second World War. Powered by a pulsejet engine, it carried a one-ton warhead and was launched from ramps or aircraft, targeting cities such as London and Antwerp from mid-1944. Despite its relative inaccuracy, the V-1 caused widespread destruction and fear, with over 9,000 launched against Britain alone. Its simple design influenced post-war missile development and remains a striking example of early cruise missile technology. Today, surviving examples are displayed in museums as reminders of both technological innovation and the devastation of total war.
