Rye Field Models Plastic Model Kit

Panzerbefehlswagen Panther Ausf. G (1/35) RM5089

This 1/35 scale kit from Rye Field Models represents the Panzerbefehlswagen variant of the Panther Ausf. G — a command tank equipped with additional radio gear and external antenna mounts. Used to direct operations in the field, these vehicles retained the firepower and armour of the standard Panther while serving as mobile battlefield command centres. This kit is ideal for modellers seeking a historically accurate command vehicle for late-war German armour builds.

  • Includes Panther Ausf. G hull and turret with command tank fittings
  • Accurate antenna bases, brackets and communications equipment
  • Detailed 75mm KwK 42 L/70 main gun with mantlet detail
  • Optional stowage, hatches and turret accessories
  • Clear parts for optics and vision blocks
  • Photo-etch parts and decals for late-war command units

Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

History

The Panzerbefehlswagen Panther Ausf. G was a command version of the late-war Panther tank, used by battalion and regimental commanders. While maintaining the powerful 75mm L/70 gun and armour protection of the standard Panther, it was equipped with additional radios, intercom systems, and antenna mounts to improve battlefield communication. These vehicles were deployed throughout the final phases of WWII and played a key role in coordinating armoured assaults and defensive actions. Though produced in limited numbers, their operational importance made them a frequent subject of war photography and post-war analysis, and they remain a favourite subject for serious scale modellers.
