History

The Schützenpanzer Puma is the Bundeswehr’s latest generation IFV, developed to replace the ageing Marder fleet. Introduced into service in the 2010s, the Puma features a modular armour system, advanced optics, a powerful MTU diesel engine, and the highly effective 30mm MK30-2/ABM autocannon. It can be transported by Airbus A400M aircraft and configured for various mission profiles. With advanced protection against mines, IEDs, and kinetic threats, along with a networked battlefield integration system, the Puma sets a new standard for IFV performance. It has been deployed in training and readiness exercises and is expected to remain a key asset in NATO-aligned operations for years to come.
