Rye Field Models Plastic Model Kit

Pz.Kpfw. VI (7.5cm) Ausf. B VK36.01 (1/35) RM5036

The VK36.01 was a German heavy tank prototype developed in the early stages of World War II, serving as a conceptual precursor to the Tiger I. Armed with a 7.5cm KwK gun and intended to offer increased firepower and protection, the project was ultimately cancelled in favour of newer designs. Rye Field Models presents a finely detailed 1/35 scale kit of this rare vehicle, offering modellers a glimpse into the developmental lineage of German heavy armour.

  • Highly accurate representation of the VK36.01 prototype layout
  • Detailed 7.5cm main gun with early mantlet design
  • Early heavy suspension system and narrow tracks
  • Photo-etch parts included for engine grilles and fine details
  • Clear parts for vision blocks and optics
  • Includes optional hatches and turret stowage elements

Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

History

The VK36.01 project was launched by Germany in the early 1940s as part of their efforts to develop a new generation of heavy tanks. Intended to be more powerful than the Panzer IV and able to counter increasingly armoured Allied threats, the VK36.01 featured sloped armour and a 7.5cm gun. Although several chassis were built and tested, the design was ultimately shelved in favour of the VK45.01 project, which led to the Tiger I. As a result, the VK36.01 never saw combat, but remains an important milestone in German armoured vehicle development and a fascinating subject for scale modellers.
