Special Hobby Mirage F.1CT Fighter-Bomber 1/72 Kit

Build the ground-attack version of Dassault’s Mirage F.1 with this 1/72 scale Special Hobby kit. The Mirage F.1CT served exclusively with the Armée de l’Air and combined the established Mirage F.1 airframe with modified electronics, a laser rangefinder and other equipment required for its specialised role.

This edition adds a dedicated sprue containing components associated with the CT and CR versions. These include Corail decoy launchers and a large belly fuel tank, giving the model the defining external equipment needed to portray the F.1CT.

Dassault Mirage F.1 Development

The Mirage F.1 began as a private Dassault initiative. The company constructed a smaller Atar 9K-powered prototype alongside the officially ordered Mirage F.2 and F.3 prototypes. First flown on 23 December 1966, the privately developed aircraft was selected for production.

The resulting Mirage F.1C entered Armée de l’Air service as a single-seat fighter, accompanied by the two-seat Mirage F.1B trainer fighter. Further development produced the IFR probe-equipped Mirage F.1C-200, the Mirage F.1CR reconnaissance aircraft and the ground-attack Mirage F.1CT converted from the Mirage F.1-200. The French Air Force received 246 Mirage F.1 aircraft across all versions.

The French F.1CT Fighter-Bomber

The Mirage F.1CT was designed for ground-attack duties and operated only with the French Air Force. Outside metropolitan France, the type was deployed in Chad and over Kosovo before the final F.1CT aircraft were retired in 2012.

These deployments are represented among the kit’s four decal choices. Each aircraft comes from a different French unit: two operated in France, one was deployed in Chad and one took part in operations over Kosovo.
