This 1/35 scale kit from Tamiya captures a unique aspect of British Airborne operations during WWII. It features four British paratroopers and two compact folding motorcycles, which were designed to be deployed by parachute. Originally developed for the Special Operations Executive (SOE), the motorcycles were simple, lightweight machines that could be dropped in separate containers for rapid deployment in the field. Between 1942 and 1943, around 3,600 units were produced and used by the 1st and 6th Airborne Divisions, most notably during the Normandy landings.
The kit allows modellers to recreate scenes involving airborne troops assembling their transport after landing, adding both narrative and depth to dioramas. The folding motorcycles are accurately detailed, and the paratroopers are posed in realistic stances such as assembling or inspecting equipment.
