This 1/35 scale kit recreates the British Challenger 2 main battle tank as adapted for service during the Iraq War. Building on the design of the Challenger 1, the Challenger 2 features second-generation Chobham armour capable of withstanding armour-piercing and shaped-charge rounds. The upgraded fire control system includes a panoramic commander’s sight with integrated laser rangefinder and a thermal gunner’s sight, paired with a 120mm L30 rifled gun capable of firing a range of ammunition types including armour-piercing, HESH, smoke, and depleted uranium rounds.
Desertised modifications for Iraq service included additional reactive armour on the front, composite side armour, a heat-reducing exhaust cover, dust-reducing canvas skirts, a Commander’s Independent Thermal Viewer (CITV), and Combat Identification Panels (CIP) for rapid recognition by friendly forces.
