German 38cm Sturmtiger (1/35) 35177
This 1/35 scale Tamiya model kit recreates the German 38cm Sturmtiger, a rare late-war assault vehicle based on the Tiger I chassis. Developed in 1943 to break through heavily fortified positions, it mounted the short-barrelled 38cm RW61 mortar, originally designed for coastal defence, adapted for land combat.
- Accurately detailed superstructure with thick 150mm frontal and 80mm side armour.
- Intricate reproduction of the 38cm L/5.4 RW61 mortar with optional steel counterweight ring.
- Includes loading crane assembly for handling the massive 330kg rocket projectiles.
- Detailed Tiger I chassis and suspension with late-war fittings.
- Decals for multiple late-war unit markings.
Only 18 Sturmtigers were produced between August and December 1944, using rebuilt Tiger I hulls. With a limited ammunition load of just 14 rounds, the Sturmtiger was deployed during the final stages of WWII, offering formidable firepower in urban and fortified environments.
