This 1/35 scale kit from Tamiya faithfully recreates the M26 Armoured Tank Recovery Vehicle, a vital support machine used by U.S. forces during World War II. First seeing action in Italy in 1943 and later supporting the Allied advance from Normandy, the M26 was responsible for recovering and repairing battle-damaged tanks, including Shermans disabled by formidable German armour such as the Tiger and Panther.
The M26’s robust design featured a powerful tandem winch, a rear-mounted “A-arm” support, and essential recovery tools, allowing crews to operate in all weather conditions and under fire. These vehicles were instrumental in keeping Allied armoured units operational during critical offensives across Europe.
