First deployed in November 1944, the Me 262 A-1a was designed to counter the growing Allied bomber threat. Despite entering service too late to change the war’s outcome, the Me 262’s advanced design influenced post-war jet development worldwide and secured its place as one of the most iconic aircraft in aviation history.
