This Tamiya 1/48 scale model faithfully recreates the rugged P-47D Thunderbolt Razorback, a high-altitude escort fighter that played a vital role in protecting Allied bombers over Europe. The kit includes finely moulded panel lines, a fully detailed cockpit, undercarriage parts, and optional drop tanks to depict long-range escort missions. Introduced in 1943, the P-47D Thunderbolt Razorback was the first single-seat fighter equipped with a turbo-supercharger, enabling it to match bomber altitudes. Armed with eight .50 calibre machine guns and capable of carrying external fuel tanks, it extended its escort range deep into enemy territory. Its arrival significantly reduced bomber losses during raids on German industrial targets. Known for its durability and heavy firepower, the P-47D became a favourite among Allied pilots and earned a lasting reputation as one of the most formidable fighters of the war.
