This 1/48 scale Tamiya model kit recreates the German Schwimmwagen Type 166, the world’s most produced amphibious car, used extensively during WWII. Designed for versatility, it could be driven on both land and water, making it highly valuable for reconnaissance and transport roles.
The Type 166 featured a streamlined hull, retractable propeller for water travel, and a four-wheel drive system for challenging terrain. Powered by a 1.1-litre Volkswagen engine, it offered reliability and performance in diverse environments, from muddy riverbanks to urban streets. Over 14,000 units were produced between 1942 and 1944, serving on multiple fronts.
