Tamiya Plastic Model Kit

Velociraptors (1/35)

This 1/35 scale set from Tamiya brings six Velociraptors to the bench, each sculpted with clean lines and natural, dynamic poses. The parts allow for subtle variations in stance and movement, so the finished group feels lively rather than repetitive. Surface detail is crisp, with skin texture, musculature and posture all coming through clearly once assembled. Each dinosaur can be mounted on its own display base, giving you flexibility whether you want a small diorama or individual stand-alone pieces.

The kit builds quickly and calmly, relying on well-engineered parts that fit neatly without fuss. At around 100mm in length, the models have a compact presence but still offer enough room for interesting paintwork, from natural camouflage tones to more speculative patterns. It’s a satisfying set for anyone who enjoys prehistoric subjects, creature modelling or simply wants something a bit different alongside more traditional military kits.

History

Velociraptor lived during the Late Cretaceous period and inhabited regions that now span across parts of Asia and North America. Smaller than many of the well-known predators of its era, it relied on speed, agility and intelligence rather than sheer size. Fossil evidence shows a lightly built, fast-moving animal with a long tail used for balance and a distinctive sickle-shaped claw on each foot, likely used in hunting and defence.

While popular culture often portrays Velociraptors as large, pack-hunting creatures, the real animal was closer to the size of a turkey, though no less formidable. Its keen senses and quick movements made it one of the more adaptable predators of its time. Today, its fossils continue to shape our understanding of feathered dinosaurs and the evolutionary link between dinosaurs and modern birds.
