Tamiya 1/24 Volkswagen Type 2 T1 Samba Model Kit
Recreate one of Volkswagen’s most recognisable vehicles with this Tamiya 1/24 scale Volkswagen Type 2 T1 Samba plastic model kit. Part of the Clic Loc 1/24 Car Models series, this snap-together kit is designed for straightforward assembly without cement, while the parts are moulded in the required colours so painting is not needed.
The model depicts the famous 23-window Samba version of the Volkswagen Type 2 T1, which made its debut in March 1950. Based on the Volkswagen Beetle, the Type 2 featured a rear-mounted, air-cooled four-cylinder engine. The Samba microbus became one of its best-known variations, with its distinctive arrangement of windows, canvas roof, flat floor and twin side doors.
Detailed 1/24 Scale Recreation
At 178mm long, 77mm wide and 80mm high, the finished model captures the T1’s distinctive boxy yet curved body shape. The lower body is moulded in red with a white upper body, creating the characteristic two-tone appearance without requiring paint.

The newly designed instruction manual uses mainly illustrated assembly steps and also includes assembly technique tips, background information about the real vehicle and a perspective diagram highlighting points of interest. Tamiya states that the kit can be completed in about two hours, making this an appealing project for modellers looking for a detailed Volkswagen subject with a simplified assembly format.
Recommended tools for assembly are side cutters, tweezers and a modelling knife. The kit forms part of Tamiya’s range of 1/24 plastic kits.
