Historical Background:

The Long Range Desert Group relied on field improvisation to arm their patrol trucks with whatever weapons were available—British standard-issue or captured from Axis forces. The Vickers K machine gun was favoured for its high rate of fire, while twin Browning .303 mounts provided dependable air defence. Captured Italian Bredas were also pressed into service when British stocks ran low. These weapons were mounted wherever they fit—on dashboards, tubs, or makeshift pintle mounts—making each LRDG vehicle unique and bristling with firepower.
