History
HMS Montrose (F236) is a Type 23 Duke-class frigate commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1994. Designed during the Cold War for anti-submarine warfare, the Type 23s evolved into versatile general-purpose warships equipped with modern radar, sonar, and anti-aircraft systems. Montrose has served extensively in operations around the world, including the Middle East, Pacific, and NATO exercises.
Notably, she was forward-deployed to the Persian Gulf as part of the Royal Navy’s long-term maritime presence, supporting freedom of navigation and regional security. With years of operational service, HMS Montrose reflects the adaptability and reach of the modern Royal Navy.
