Victrix Plastic Model Figures

Greek Light Cavalry (28mm) VXA032

This 28mm hard plastic set from Victrix features 12 highly detailed Greek Light Cavalry figures, ideal for use across a broad span of classical Greek and Hellenistic warfare. Lightly armoured and equipped for speed and manoeuvrability, these cavalrymen are armed with javelins, swords, and shields, making them perfect for hit-and-run tactics and skirmishing.

The set includes 12 riders and 4 horses, with multiple weapon, head, and shield options to allow for dynamic and varied unit builds. With 4 body poses, 11 head variants, and 3 shield types, these figures offer both character and flexibility. The parts can also be combined with elements from the Macedonian Greek Successor Heavy Cavalry set for additional variety and conversions. Recommended shield transfers are available from Little Big Men Studios for added detail.

These cavalry are ideal for use in Greek, Macedonian, and Hellenistic armies, serving as scouts, flanking units, or light assault cavalry. Whether you are building forces for historical gaming or display dioramas, this set provides essential components for any classical collection.

History:

Greek light cavalry played an increasingly important role in classical warfare from the 5th century BCE onwards. Initially underutilised by hoplite-dominated Greek armies, light horsemen gained prominence for their ability to harass enemy flanks, pursue retreating foes, and screen allied movements. Often drawn from aristocratic youth or tribal allies, these riders were fast, agile, and skilled in using javelins and short swords. By the time of the Hellenistic successor states, light cavalry became a standard component of combined arms tactics, operating alongside phalanxes, heavy cavalry, and war elephants. This Victrix set captures the mobility and flair of these essential battlefield units.
