History:

The Norman cavalry were among the most feared mounted troops of the medieval period, combining the chivalric traditions of Western Europe with influences from the Crusades and Moorish armies. These knights fought in full mail or scale armour and employed a variety of weapons from heavy lances to agile javelins. Their tactical versatility and battlefield prowess allowed them to dominate in numerous campaigns across Europe and the Holy Land. This set captures the strength and variety of Norman and allied heavy cavalry in exquisite detail.
