This 12mm (1:144 scale) set from Victrix includes six finely detailed Sherman M4A3 tanks, along with a decal sheet featuring Allied stars and the classic US tank name “Aces High.” Representing the most widely used Allied tank of World War II, these models are ideal for recreating late-war battles across Europe and the Pacific.

The M4A3 Sherman, armed with the 75mm L/40 gun, became the backbone of U.S. armoured forces from 1943 onwards. Known for its balanced combination of firepower, reliability, and ease of production, the Sherman was deployed in massive numbers across all Allied theatres. This variant was particularly favoured for its improved drivetrain and welded hull construction, offering better mechanical reliability and ease of maintenance in the field.

With its 75mm main gun and two .30 calibre machine guns—one bow-mounted and one coaxial—the M4A3 could engage enemy infantry and armour alike. Though often outmatched in direct confrontation with German heavy tanks, its tactical deployment, speed, and numerical superiority ensured battlefield success. This kit allows hobbyists and wargamers to accurately represent a key component of the Allied advance from Normandy to Berlin.

History:

The M4 Sherman was the most iconic American tank of World War II, produced in vast numbers and fielded across multiple continents. The M4A3 variant featured a Ford GAA V8 engine, welded hull, and reliable mechanical systems, making it a favourite among U.S. crews. It first saw combat in 1943 and remained in frontline service until the war’s end. Armed with a 75mm gun capable of firing high-explosive and armour-piercing rounds, the Sherman was effective against soft targets and lightly armoured vehicles, though less so against late-war German tanks. Nevertheless, through tactical innovation and overwhelming numbers, Shermans contributed significantly to Allied victories in France, the Low Countries, and Germany. The M4A3’s adaptability, ease of repair, and availability cemented its place as a key element in the Allied war machine.
