History

The M1296 ICV-Dragoon was introduced as part of the US Army’s effort to enhance the lethality of its Stryker Brigade Combat Teams. Operational experience highlighted the need for improved firepower and protection, particularly in environments where adversaries fielded heavier armoured threats and advanced surveillance capabilities.

By integrating the 30mm MK44 Bushmaster II cannon and ESA MWO upgrades, the Dragoon significantly improved its ability to engage armoured targets while maintaining the mobility and deployability that define the Stryker platform. Today, the M1296 continues to serve as a key component of US Army forces, reflecting the ongoing adaptation of wheeled combat vehicles to modern, high-threat operational environments.
