History:
The McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II was the most advanced and widely produced variant of the Phantom series for the United States Air Force. Introduced in the late 1960s, the F-4E featured a longer nose to accommodate the internal M61 Vulcan 20mm cannon—an upgrade that resolved criticism of the earlier missile-only versions. The aircraft also incorporated the powerful AN/APQ-120 radar system and a strengthened airframe capable of carrying a wide range of weapons.
The F-4E served with distinction across multiple theatres, including Vietnam, the Middle East, and NATO operations during the Cold War. It was employed in air superiority, ground attack, and close air support missions. Its versatility and adaptability allowed it to remain in front-line service well into the 1990s, and in some air forces even beyond that.
This Zoukei-Mura kit offers an exceptionally detailed representation of the F-4E, capturing its unique features with precision. It’s a must-have for aircraft modellers interested in Cold War-era jet aviation, blending engineering excellence with the combat legacy of one of history’s most iconic fighter-bombers.
