Zvezda 1/35 German WWII Zündapp K800 Motorcycle with Sidecar & Crew

This 1/35 scale kit from Zvezda depicts the German WWII-era Zündapp K800 motorcycle with sidecar, complete with crew figures. The K800 was Germany’s only four-cylinder military motorcycle, featuring a smooth boxer engine and shaft-driven rear wheel. Originally a civilian machine, it was adapted for military use from 1934 onward, serving the Wehrmacht in multiple roles.

The kit consists of 108 finely moulded parts and builds into a model approximately 6.2cm in length. It includes detailed crew figures, as well as decals for both civilian and military registration plates. With careful engineering and authentic styling, this model captures the mechanical charm and unique silhouette of one of Germany’s more unconventional wartime motorcycles.

History:

The Zündapp K800 was manufactured between 1933 and 1938, with 2600 units produced for civilian use and 4692 for military service. It entered Wehrmacht service in 1934, adapted with reinforced components and specially designed sidecars. Powered by a 20 hp flat-four boxer engine and reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h, the K800 featured a shaft drive and smooth operation. However, reliability issues and limited off-road capability hampered its performance, particularly on the Eastern Front. Despite its shortcomings, the K800 remains a distinctive piece of German military motoring history.
