History:

British hussars were among the most flamboyant and daring cavalry units of the Napoleonic Wars. Serving between 1808 and 1815, these light cavalry regiments were primarily tasked with reconnaissance, raiding, and pursuing retreating enemies. Clad in braided dolmans, pelisses, and distinctive fur busbies or shakos, the hussars made a striking appearance on the battlefield. They played crucial roles in the Peninsular War under Wellington, engaging French forces in fast-paced cavalry skirmishes. At Waterloo in 1815, British hussars again demonstrated their effectiveness, often exploiting gaps in the enemy line. Their mobility, dash, and elegance earned them a prominent place in British military history. This set captures the essence of these iconic cavalrymen during their peak operational years.
