History:

Wooden farmhouses like this one were a common sight across rural North America from 1750 to 1900. Built using timber-frame construction, these homes served as family dwellings, homesteads, and even makeshift headquarters or field hospitals during wartime. In the American War of Independence and War of 1812, such buildings were often caught in the crossfire of frontier skirmishes. During the American Civil War, farmhouses frequently featured in battles and campaigns, either as strategic objectives or field shelters.
