History:

The Continental Army was formed in 1775 to serve as the unified military force of the rebelling American colonies during the War of Independence. From 1776 to 1783, these troops fought in major engagements across the eastern seaboard against British and Loyalist forces. Early in the war, Continental soldiers often wore militia-style clothing or improvised uniforms, but over time standardisation improved with the introduction of blue coats and facings of various colours depending on region and regiment. Armed with muskets, cartridge boxes, and bayonets, Continental infantry fought with growing discipline and effectiveness, bolstered by training under officers such as Baron von Steuben. This set captures the evolving appearance and spirit of the American fighting man in the war that shaped a nation.
