Academy A-10C Warthog Nose Art 1/48 Model Kit
Academy’s A-10C ‘Nose Art’ (12379) is a 1/48 scale plastic model kit featuring five US Air National Guard marking options. This second release includes a detailed cockpit and landing gear, positionable ailerons, armament, a paint mask and a comprehensive decal sheet covering aircraft from the Idaho and Michigan Air National Guard.
The A-10 Warthog is a twin-fanjet, subsonic ground-attack aircraft designed for low-level operations. First flown in May 1972, the type entered production in 1973, with more than 700 aircraft built by 1982. The A-10C represents the current standard configuration and remains in US Air Force service.
Five Air National Guard Marking Options
The main feature of this Nose Art edition is its selection of five aircraft markings, representing two Air National Guard units and aircraft from 2025 and 2026.
- Idaho Air National Guard, 2026: A-10C of the 190th Fighter Squadron, 124th Fighter Wing.
- Idaho Air National Guard Commander’s Aircraft, 2026: Commander’s mount from the 190th Fighter Squadron, 124th Fighter Wing.
- Michigan Air National Guard, 2026: A-10C of the 107th Fighter Squadron, 127th Fighter Wing.
- Michigan Air National Guard Commander’s Aircraft, 2026: Commander’s mount from the 107th Fighter Squadron, 127th Fighter Wing.
- Operation Inherent Resolve, 2025: A-10C serial 78-0643 of the 190th Fighter Squadron, 124th Fighter Wing, Idaho Air National Guard.
These options allow the modeller to represent aircraft from either state Air National Guard unit, including the commanders’ aircraft and an operational example associated with Operation Inherent Resolve.
Detailed Cockpit and Landing Gear
The kit includes a detailed cockpit and landing gear, providing important areas for painting and assembly. The cockpit forms a prominent part of the finished aircraft, while the landing gear allows the A-10C to be presented in its ground configuration.
The ailerons can be positioned either up or down, giving the modeller a choice when assembling the aircraft’s control surfaces.
Armament and Painting Features
Academy includes armament for the A-10C, reflecting its ground-attack role. A paint mask is also supplied to assist with the finishing process.
The comprehensive decal sheet provides the markings for all five aircraft options, making the choice of unit, aircraft and service year an important part of the project.
