Pearl Harbor 7 December 1941

At 7.55am on Sunday 7 December 1941, the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor came under attack from the Japanese Navy. The assault was launched from six aircraft carriers in two major waves involving more than 400 strike and fighter aircraft.

The attack targeted the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor as well as the airfields at Ford Island, Hickam Field, Bellows Field and Wheeler Field. The events of that morning became one of the defining moments of the Second World War and form the historical theme behind this Airfix gift set.
