Airfix Plastic Model Kit
Airfix Scharnhorst (1/600) A04206V
The Airfix Scharnhorst is a detailed 1/600 scale plastic model kit from the Vintage Classics collection, recreating one of the most famous capital ships of the German Kriegsmarine during WWII. Renowned for her speed, striking appearance and powerful armament, Scharnhorst became one of Germany’s most active surface raiders before her final battle in the Arctic.
This Skill Level 3 kit contains 159 finely moulded parts and accurately captures the distinctive profile of the famous battleship. The completed model faithfully reproduces the vessel’s triple-gun turrets, imposing superstructure and sleek hull, making it an excellent addition to any collection of WWII naval subjects.
Included with the kit is a single authentic marking option representing the ship during her wartime service. As part of the Airfix Vintage Classics range, this release brings back a well-known tooling while preserving the character of one of Airfix’s classic naval model kits.
Whether displayed on its own or alongside other naval subjects, Scharnhorst remains an impressive model that reflects the engineering and appearance of one of the Kriegsmarine’s best-known warships. The kit offers an enjoyable project for both experienced ship modellers and those looking to expand their collection of historic naval vessels.

History
Commissioned in 1939, Scharnhorst was one of the most powerful ships in the German Kriegsmarine and was designed to operate as both a fleet unit and a fast commerce raider. Together with her sister ship Gneisenau, she conducted numerous operations in the Atlantic and North Atlantic, disrupting Allied shipping and tying down significant Royal Navy resources. On 26 December 1943, during the Battle of the North Cape, Scharnhorst was intercepted by British forces led by HMS Duke of York. After a fierce engagement, she was sunk with heavy loss of life, bringing the operational career of one of Germany’s most famous battleships to an end.
Glue and paints are sold separately.
