History:

The battleship Nagato was launched in 1919 and entered service with the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1920. She was the first battleship in the world to be armed with 16-inch (410mm) guns, giving Japan a significant naval advantage during the interwar years. In 1927, Nagato underwent modifications that refined her appearance and capabilities, cementing her role as a powerful fleet asset. She served as flagship of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto during the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and participated in numerous operations throughout World War II. Despite her age, Nagato remained active until the end of the war, later becoming the only surviving Japanese battleship of the conflict. Captured by the Allies, she was used in the Bikini Atoll atomic bomb tests in 1946, where she ultimately sank. The Nagato stands as a historic vessel that symbolised Japan’s naval power during the first half of the 20th century.
