Arma Hobby Plastic Model Kit

Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1A “Schwalbe” (1/72)

The Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1A, known as the “Schwalbe”, was the world’s first operational jet-powered fighter and one of the most advanced combat aircraft of the Second World War. Developed in Germany during the later years of the conflict, it represented a dramatic leap forward in aviation technology, arriving at a time when piston-engine fighters were reaching the limits of their development.

Powered by twin jet engines, the Me 262 offered a level of speed and performance that Allied aircraft struggled to match. In the fighter role, the A-1A variant was armed for air combat and bomber interception, combining high speed with heavy firepower. Although introduced too late and in too small numbers to alter the course of the war, its impact on post-war aircraft design was profound.

  • 1/72 scale plastic model assembly kit
  • Two grey plastic sprues and one clear canopy sprue
  • Includes Arma Jig assembly stand for accurate construction
  • Metal nose weight included
  • Decal sheet with three marking options, two wartime and one post-war
  • Canopy painting masks supplied
  • Code included for downloading a 3D-printable accessories file

Arma Hobby’s approach to the Me 262 focuses on precision and thoughtful engineering, helping capture the aircraft’s distinctive lines and compact jet-era layout. The inclusion of modern aids such as masks and assembly jigs reflects the balance between historical subject matter and contemporary kit design.

The Me 262 stands as a symbol of aviation’s transition into the jet age. Despite the constraints under which it was produced, it demonstrated concepts that would shape fighter development for decades. The “Schwalbe” remains one of the most significant and recognisable aircraft of the Second World War, not just for what it achieved, but for what it promised.
