Scale Model Boat and Ship Kits

Explore scale model boat kits and ship kits covering a variety of maritime subjects. Browse naval vessels, submarines and smaller craft in scales suited to different projects, levels of detail and display spaces.

Use the products above to compare subjects, scales, manufacturers and current availability. Check each listing for the kit material, dimensions, contents and assembly requirements before ordering, as these details vary between products.

Choose a Scale Model Ship Kit

Begin with a vessel or maritime subject that interests you, then consider the model’s scale and likely finished size. The scale is a ratio: a 1/350 model represents the original vessel at one three-hundred-and-fiftieth of its full size.

A larger scale does not necessarily mean a more difficult kit, and a smaller scale does not always produce a physically small model. The dimensions of the real vessel, parts included and kit design all affect the finished project.

Large-Scale Model Boat Kits

Modellers searching for large-scale model boat kits may wish to explore scales such as 1/35 and 1/72, particularly for smaller boats, submarines and other maritime subjects available in these categories. Larger-scale kits can require considerable display space, so check the stated finished dimensions where these are provided.

Browse 1/35 boats and submarines or view 1/72 boat and submarine kits.

1/350 Scale Model Ships

At 1/350 scale, large naval subjects can still produce substantial display models. Compare the individual kit details carefully, especially when choosing a battleship, aircraft carrier, cruiser or other large vessel. Explore our dedicated 1/350 scale ship kits.

1/700 Scale Model Ships

Smaller scales such as 1/700 can make it easier to display large vessels or several ships together. The physical size still varies according to the original vessel, so consult the individual product description before buying. Browse 1/700 scale ship kits.

Other Ship and Boat Scales

Model ships may also be produced in scales such as 1/144, 1/200, 1/600 or 1/76, depending on the subject and manufacturer. Availability in these scales can vary. If you need a specific scale, check the scale shown in the complete product title and description rather than assuming that similarly named kits will match.

What to Check Before Ordering

• Scale: Confirm that it suits your display space and any accessories you plan to use.
• Finished size: Check the listed dimensions where supplied.
• Kit contents: Review what is included and what must be purchased separately.
• Material: Do not assume every model uses the same type of plastic or construction method.
• Full-hull or waterline format: Check the individual listing where this matters to your planned display.
• Paint and adhesive: Confirm which modelling supplies are required for assembly and finishing.

Figures and Accessories for Model Boats

Figures, detailing parts and display accessories must match both the scale and intended subject. For example, a figure made to 1/72 scale will not be correctly proportioned for a 1/350 ship. Check the stated scale and compatibility of every accessory before adding it to your project.
