History
German ground crew played an essential role in maintaining and preparing aircraft during World War I. Responsible for refuelling, rearming, and carrying out repairs, these men worked in all weather conditions to ensure their squadrons were combat-ready. Their duties also included manoeuvring aircraft on the ground and assisting pilots before takeoff. In scale modelling, ground crew figures add life and context to an aircraft display, showing the behind-the-scenes work that was vital to air operations on the Western and Eastern Fronts.
