History

The Machine Gun Corps was formed by the British Army in 1915 to improve the effectiveness of machine gun deployment on the battlefield. As the war progressed, specialised motorcycle units were equipped with Vickers machine guns mounted on sidecar combinations, providing greater mobility than traditional infantry machine gun teams.
