Das Werk 1/32 Messerschmitt Me 262 Plastic Model Kit

Das Werk DW32003 recreates the Messerschmitt Me 262 in 1/32 scale as a highly detailed plastic model kit. Developed by Messerschmitt AG, the Me 262 became history’s first mass-produced jet aircraft and entered production during the final stages of the Second World War. Its pioneering jet-powered design went on to influence the development of jet aircraft after 1945.

This Das Werk production includes extensive internal and external detail, with particular attention given to the aircraft’s Junkers Jumo 004 engines, MK 108 armament system, cockpit and landing gear bay.

Detailed Engines, Armament and Cockpit

Both Jumo 004 engines are highly detailed, providing an important feature of this landmark jet aircraft in 1/32 scale. The MK 108 armament system is also highly detailed and can be displayed either open or closed, allowing a choice of presentation for the completed model.

The cockpit and landing gear bay receive similarly detailed treatment. The kit also includes 55mm R4M rockets, nose weight and metal pins, along with three decal options for finishing the aircraft.

The Me 262 in WWII

Development of the Me 262 began in 1938 under the direction of Woldemar Voigt. Following earlier testing, its first pure jet-powered flight using Junkers Jumo 004 engines took place in July 1942. The aircraft combined its innovative jet engines with slightly swept-back wings.

Production ran from spring 1944 until April 1945, with approximately 1,433 aircraft built and around 800 delivered to the Luftwaffe. Wartime fuel shortages, shortages of pilots and limited materials restricted the number available for frontline operations. Under pressure from Allied air raids, component production was increasingly moved to underground tunnels and camouflaged forest factories.

Das Werk DW32003 is supplied unassembled and unpainted, with paint and glue required separately. Its detailed Jumo 004 engines, displayable MK 108 armament, cockpit, landing gear bay, R4M rockets and three decal options provide the principal features for building this significant WWII jet aircraft in 1/32 scale.
