Eduard Plastic Model Kit
Mitsubishi A6M2-K ProfiPACK (1/48) – 82218
Eduard’s ProfiPACK edition kit 82218 features the Mitsubishi A6M2-K in 1/48 scale — a two-seat trainer version of the famous Japanese Zero fighter used during World War II. Originally developed for the Imperial Japanese Navy, the A6M2-K variant retained much of the original Zero’s airframe and handling characteristics while adding a second cockpit for pilot instruction and familiarisation.
This ProfiPACK edition includes high-quality Eduard plastic sprues along with pre-painted photo-etched (PE) details and a set of precision-cut painting masks. With six different marking options provided via Eduard decals, this kit allows modellers to recreate a variety of aircraft operated by the Japanese Navy in late-war training roles. The surface detail, interior components, and scale accuracy make it an ideal choice for both collectors and historical aviation enthusiasts.

History:
The Mitsubishi A6M2-K was developed from the highly successful A6M Zero, modified to serve as a two-seat training aircraft for the Imperial Japanese Navy. While not intended for frontline combat, it allowed pilots to become familiar with the handling of the Zero in a safer training environment. The A6M2-K retained much of the original design, including its lightweight frame and excellent manoeuvrability, making it a valuable tool in pilot development during the later stages of the war. Despite limited production, it played a vital role in maintaining pilot readiness as Japan’s experienced aviators became increasingly scarce.
