History:

The Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf. A, B, and C were early German light tanks developed prior to World War II to serve as a temporary solution while heavier tanks were under development. Although intended as a stop-gap measure, the Panzer II proved to be instrumental during the invasions of Poland and France. With its 20mm KwK 30 L/55 autocannon and 7.92mm MG34 machine gun, the Panzer II offered mobile fire support against infantry and lightly armoured vehicles.

These early variants featured slight differences in suspension layout, access hatches, and turret detail but retained a similar core design. Despite being lightly armoured, the Panzer II benefited from agility and mechanical simplicity, allowing it to be produced in significant numbers and deployed in reconnaissance and flanking roles. By the later stages of the war, the Panzer II was largely phased out as a frontline tank but continued in service in support and training roles, and its chassis was used for various conversions, such as self-propelled guns.
