Hasegawa F-106A Delta Dart (1/72) HAC11
The Hasegawa F-106A Delta Dart is a highly detailed 1/72 scale plastic model kit of the United States Air Force’s ultimate all-weather interceptor. Designed to defend North American airspace during the Cold War, the F-106A combined exceptional speed, advanced radar and guided missile armament, becoming one of the finest dedicated interceptor aircraft ever produced.
Hasegawa accurately recreates the sleek delta-wing design with finely engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit, realistic landing gear and sharply moulded external surfaces. The aircraft’s elegant fuselage and distinctive area-ruled shape are faithfully reproduced, while Hasegawa’s renowned engineering ensures excellent fit and crisp moulding quality throughout the build.
The completed model makes an impressive addition to any collection of Cold War aircraft and offers an excellent opportunity to recreate the natural metal and Air Defense Command schemes worn by operational Delta Darts. Its clean aerodynamic lines also provide an ideal canvas for subtle weathering and finishing techniques.

History
The Convair F-106A Delta Dart entered United States Air Force service in 1959 as the ultimate development of the Century Series interceptors. Designed specifically to defend North America against Soviet strategic bombers, it featured advanced Hughes fire control systems, a powerful radar and an internal weapons bay carrying Falcon missiles and the AIR-2 Genie nuclear rocket. Capable of speeds exceeding Mach 2, the Delta Dart became the backbone of the Air Defense Command throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Although it never saw combat in wartime, the F-106 earned a reputation for outstanding performance and reliability, remaining in frontline interceptor service until the 1980s.
