Designed for both air-to-air combat and ground-attack missions, the Hornet has been a mainstay of carrier aviation since the 1980s.

History
The F/A-18 Hornet entered U.S. service in the early 1980s, replacing older aircraft such as the F-4 Phantom II and A-7 Corsair II. Its combination of reliability, agility, and multirole capability made it well suited to carrier operations.
The F/A-18C variant introduced upgraded avionics and improved combat systems, enabling it to perform effectively in both air superiority and strike missions. The Hornet has seen service in numerous operations worldwide and remains one of the most recognisable modern naval fighters.
