The Hasegawa Fuji T-3 Special Marking And Tractor is a limited edition 1/72 scale model kit celebrating one of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s most colourful display aircraft. This special release recreates the distinctive “Katta-kun” aircraft that appeared during the 1994 Hofu Kita Air Base Air Festival and includes a matching scale tow tractor for an attractive display straight from the box.

The kit combines Hasegawa’s detailed Fuji T-3 trainer with additional plastic parts for the tow tractor, allowing modellers to create an authentic flight line scene. The completed aircraft measures approximately 112mm in length with a wingspan of 140mm and is produced from around 71 precision-moulded parts.

A comprehensive decal sheet reproduces the colourful commemorative markings worn by aircraft “512” during the Hofu Kita Air Base Air Festival on 24 July 1994. These distinctive markings make this limited edition release stand out from standard Fuji T-3 kits and provide an eye-catching addition to any collection of Japanese military aircraft.

History

The Fuji T-3 entered service with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force during the 1970s as a primary trainer for student pilots. Developed from the earlier Fuji T-1 and T-34 lineage, the aircraft was powered by a domestically produced engine and became a familiar sight at JASDF training bases for many years. Specially painted aircraft frequently appeared at Japanese air shows, with the colourful “Katta-kun” scheme applied to aircraft 512 for the Hofu Kita Air Base Air Festival in July 1994 becoming one of the best-known commemorative liveries worn by the T-3.
