The Hasegawa A-1H Skyraider VA-25 MiG Killer is a highly detailed 1/72 scale plastic model kit recreating one of the most famous piston-engined combat aircraft of the Vietnam War. This Limited Edition release depicts the legendary U.S. Navy Skyraider associated with the rare aerial victory over a North Vietnamese MiG-17, making it a unique addition to any military aircraft collection.

Based on Hasegawa’s excellent Skyraider tooling, the kit features finely engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit, realistic landing gear and an extensive external weapons load. Rocket tubes, rocket pods and bombs are all included, allowing the aircraft to be displayed in an authentic Vietnam War combat configuration.

History

The Douglas A-1 Skyraider entered U.S. Navy service shortly after the Second World War and remained one of the most effective close air support aircraft ever built. During the Vietnam War, its heavy payload, exceptional endurance and rugged construction made it invaluable for strike, rescue escort and ground attack missions. On 20 June 1965, Lieutenant Clinton B. Johnson of VA-25 achieved the remarkable feat of shooting down a North Vietnamese MiG-17 while flying an A-1H Skyraider, one of the very few piston-engined aircraft ever to defeat a jet fighter in air combat. This extraordinary victory cemented the Skyraider’s legendary status in aviation history.
