Hasegawa Plastic Model Kit

Space Shuttle Orbiter w/Hubble Space Telescope & Astronauts (1/200) 10821

This 1/200 scale Space Shuttle Orbiter set from Hasegawa recreates an orbital scene featuring the famous Hubble Space Telescope and astronauts working in space. The kit allows modellers to reproduce a moment shortly before the Hubble telescope is released from the shuttle during a deployment mission.

The model includes detailed parts for the Space Shuttle Orbiter along with a silver plated representation of the Hubble Space Telescope. Three astronaut figures are also included, allowing the scene of an extravehicular activity to be recreated in orbit. A display stand is provided to present the shuttle and telescope in a dynamic space setting.

History

The Space Shuttle programme was developed by NASA to provide reusable spacecraft capable of transporting astronauts, satellites and scientific equipment into orbit. First launched in 1981, the shuttle became one of the most recognisable spacecraft in history.

The Hubble Space Telescope was launched into orbit in 1990 aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. Positioned above Earth’s atmosphere, Hubble has provided some of the most detailed images of the universe ever captured and has played a major role in advancing modern astronomy.
