Hasegawa Plastic Model Kit
Hasegawa Typhoon Mk.Ib Tear Drop Canopy (1/48) HAJT60
The Hasegawa Typhoon Mk.Ib Tear Drop Canopy is a highly detailed 1/48 scale plastic model kit of one of the Royal Air Force’s most formidable fighter-bombers of the Second World War. Featuring the distinctive later bubble, or tear drop, canopy, this version of the Hawker Typhoon provided pilots with significantly improved all-round visibility during low-level attack missions over occupied Europe.
Hasegawa faithfully reproduces the powerful lines of the Typhoon with finely engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit, accurately moulded Napier Sabre engine cowling, realistic landing gear and sharply defined flying surfaces. The later tear drop canopy and broad-chord tailplane are accurately represented, creating an authentic replica of this famous late-war aircraft.
Built using Hasegawa’s renowned tooling quality, the kit offers excellent fit and crisp moulding throughout. The generous 1/48 scale provides an ideal basis for realistic camouflage, weathering and additional detailing, making it a rewarding project for both experienced aircraft modellers and RAF enthusiasts.

History
The Hawker Typhoon was originally developed as a high-performance interceptor but soon proved far more effective as a ground attack aircraft. Equipped with the powerful Napier Sabre engine, four 20mm Hispano cannon and the ability to carry rockets or bombs, the Typhoon became one of the RAF’s most feared fighter-bombers. The introduction of the tear drop canopy significantly improved pilot visibility and became the standard configuration on later aircraft. Typhoons played a vital role during the Normandy campaign and the Allied advance across Europe, attacking tanks, transport columns, bridges and fortified positions with devastating effect.
Glue and paints are sold separately.
