History

The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk entered United States Army service in 1979 as the replacement for the UH-1 Huey. Designed as a highly capable tactical transport helicopter, it can carry troops, equipment and supplies while operating in demanding combat environments. The UH-60A became widely recognised during operations including the Gulf War, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan, where it demonstrated outstanding reliability and versatility. Its robust construction, powerful twin engines and advanced rotor system have allowed the Black Hawk to remain one of the world’s leading military helicopters, with numerous upgraded variants continuing to serve with armed forces around the globe.
