The Hasegawa VF-31J Siegfried Hayate is a highly detailed 1/72 scale plastic model kit recreating the advanced variable fighter flown by Hayate Immelman, Delta Five, in the popular anime series Macross Delta. This kit depicts the sleek fighter mode with the precision engineering and sharp surface detail that Hasegawa is renowned for.

The model features an opening or closed canopy, seated pilot figures for both cockpits and a choice of helmeted or unhelmeted pilot. Clear parts are included for the nose sensor and upper fuselage Fold Quartz, while the head laser gun and vectoring engine nozzles are fully movable. The landing gear and gear doors can be displayed in either parked or flight configuration, and the kit is compatible with the optional Hasegawa Macross display stand (sold separately) for an impressive in-flight presentation.

Measuring 261mm long with a wingspan of 192mm, the completed model consists of 118 finely moulded parts and is finished using the included decals. The dramatic box artwork has been illustrated by renowned Macross artist Hidetaka Tenjin, making this a superb addition to any Macross collection.

History

The VF-31J Siegfried is one of the principal Variable Fighters featured in the 2016 anime series Macross Delta. Piloted by Hayate Immelman of Delta Flight, the aircraft combines exceptional speed, advanced avionics and the trademark variable transformation technology that defines the Macross universe. Although this kit represents the fighter configuration only, the VF-31J remains one of the franchise’s most recognisable modern designs, blending futuristic styling with realistic aerospace engineering. Its distinctive appearance and detailed markings have made it a favourite among both anime fans and aircraft modellers.
