Use the products above to compare the available Humbrol colours and check each listing for its shade number, finish, container size and current availability. If your instructions specify a particular colour, searching by its Humbrol number can make the correct paint easier to locate.

Choose the Right Humbrol Paint Finish

The required finish depends on the subject, surface and result you want to create. Check your model instructions and reference material before selecting a colour.

Humbrol Matt Enamel Paint

Humbrol matt enamel paint produces a non-gloss appearance. Matt colours are commonly considered for surfaces where a subdued finish is required, but the appropriate choice will depend on the particular model and colour scheme.

Satin Enamel Paint for Model Making

Satin enamel paint provides a finish between matt and gloss. It can be selected where a gentle sheen is more appropriate than a completely flat or highly reflective surface.

Gloss and Metallic Enamel Paint

Gloss colours provide a shinier appearance, while metallic enamel paint is intended to represent metal-like finishes. Always review the individual colour and finish shown in the product title rather than relying on the shade number alone.

Finding Humbrol Paint by Number

Humbrol colours are identified by individual shade numbers. Searches for colours such as Humbrol 15, Humbrol 24, Humbrol 25, Humbrol 32, Humbrol 113, Humbrol 121 and Humbrol 147 usually indicate that a modeller is looking for a specific numbered paint.

Enter the complete shade number in the site search or browse the products above to find a matching listing. Availability can change, so check the relevant product page before ordering. A similar-looking colour should not automatically be treated as an exact replacement for the number specified in your instructions.

Applying Humbrol Enamel Paint

Prepare the model surface before painting and mix the paint thoroughly, following the instructions supplied with the product. Humbrol enamel paints may be applied with a suitable brush, while products intended for airbrush use may require compatible thinner and careful preparation.

• Test the paint and finish on a spare piece or hidden area first.
• Use suitable equipment for enamel paint.
• Follow the product instructions for mixing, thinning and drying.
• Allow each coat to dry sufficiently before adding further paint.
• Use in a well-ventilated area and follow all label safety guidance.

Complete your painting setup with suitable model paint brushes and browse paint thinners for compatible products. You can also explore the wider Humbrol range or compare other model paints available from Scale Model Shop.
