History
The KTO Rosomak is a Polish-built armoured personnel carrier based on the Finnish Patria AMV design. Entering service in the early 2000s, it was developed to provide the Polish Army with a modern, highly mobile platform capable of operating across varied terrain.
Equipped with an eight-wheel drive configuration, the Rosomak offers excellent mobility on roads and rough ground, as well as amphibious capability in certain configurations. Its modular design allows it to be adapted for a wide range of roles, including troop transport, command vehicles, and fire support variants.
The vehicle gained operational experience during deployments in Afghanistan, where it demonstrated reliability and adaptability in challenging conditions. Its protection systems and mobility made it well suited to modern asymmetric warfare environments.
The “Green Devil” designation reflects unit markings and individual vehicle identity, highlighting the tradition of personalising military equipment. Today, the Rosomak continues to serve as a key component of Poland’s armoured forces and remains an important example of modern wheeled combat vehicle design.
