Matho Models 1/35 Metal Fence Set B – Gate

Add a highly detailed metal gate to your 1/35 scene with Matho Models Metal Fence Set B – Gate. The set contains one photo-etch fret with a two-part metal gate, providing a finely detailed feature for use with suitable support columns.

The assembled gate measures 6.8 cm wide and 6.3 cm high. Its left and right edges feature additional bolt detailing and can be bent through 90 degrees for attachment to support columns. A large photo-etch bending tool is recommended to achieve clean bends.

Compatible with Metal Fence Set B

The gate is compatible with Matho Models 35059 Metal Fence Set B, which is sold separately. It is also included in Matho Models 35087 Metal Fence B – Big Set with Gate, which combines four fence parts with one two-part gate.

This set contains only photo-etch parts. Wall sections and support columns are not included.

Painting and Finishing

For painting and weathering, leave the gate attached to the fret initially. Airbrush a few layers of acrylic primer, allowing at least 24 hours to dry between coats. Then apply your regular acrylic or enamel colours and weathering products. Finish with a few coats of varnish and allow the varnish to dry for at least 24 hours before handling the parts further.

Once the finish has hardened, place the fret on a hard surface such as wood or glass and carefully cut the gate from the fret using a fresh knife. Handle the painted parts gently to minimise scratching. Any remaining attachment residue can be cleaned with a micro file, although a clean cut can reduce the need for filing along straight edges.

After removal and handling, inspect the cut areas and touch up any exposed brass where required. Use a round brush with a very fine tip and your main colour to restore the finish before positioning the two-part gate in the scene.
