History:

The Volkswagen Kübelwagen Type 82 was developed by Ferdinand Porsche and produced by Volkswagen for use by German forces during the Second World War. Based on the civilian VW Beetle platform, it was adapted for military use with a lightweight chassis, rear-wheel drive, and high ground clearance. Though lacking four-wheel drive, it proved remarkably capable in off-road conditions thanks to its light weight and flat underbody. Over 50,000 units were built between 1940 and 1945, serving across Europe, North Africa, and the Eastern Front. Its simplicity, reliability, and adaptability made it a staple of German military transport and a symbol of wartime innovation under constraint.
